The Daily Paper
Winner of the BEST HOBBYIST and BEST NARRATIVE categories at the SA GAME JAM 2024.
Thank you to everyone who played the game!
Fullscreen Recommended for reading some of the smaller text.
There are 3 possible endings, refresh the page to try again with a new killer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Feel free to use a pen and paper to take some notes on your suspects, I found that doing so made it much more fun :D (and somewhat easier)
* Tips and Example* (since I didn't have time for a tutorial)
- Make sure to use your one phone call each day, it is needed to fill in the logic gaps left by the newspapers.
- The notebook mentions that an innocent suspect will never lie, but it doesn't mention that the guilty suspect will always deny sharing any traits with the killer (which is obviously a lie). So if a suspect mentions that they share a trait with the killer, you can be sure that they are innocent.
- Example:
-- You question the Actor [Immigrant & Married] and they claim that they share nothing in common with the killer. This either means that they are the killer, or that the killer is not an Immigrant or Married.
-- You then receive The Daily Paper, confirming that the killer is not Educated. Now you decide to call the Doctor [Educated & Married], who says that they aren't the killer, but do share a trait with the killer. Since you know the killer can't be Educated, they must be Married.
-- But the Actor, who is Married, claimed that they do not share any traits with the killer. You have deduced that this a lie, and can now safely accuse the Actor and catch the killer!

omg I played twice and got the same killer both times, so I was disappointed and thought it must not be randomized. I played again and reported them immediately to see if I got anything special and ended up lynching an innocent person LMAOOO (edit: just realized the description says there's 3 endings... I can't read)
really enjoyed this!
Thanks a lot for playing! Happy to hear that you had fun :D
